Property Value Appeals: Sorority Wins Cut
- Austin officials focused solely on appeals from taxpayers disputing their 1937 property valuations.
- Most protests resulted in a referral to a two-member committee for on-site inspection and a future report, delaying immediate decisions.
- One notable win: Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority secured a tax reduction by proving their campus improvements were removed before the assessment date. Other cases saw mixed results, with some valuation changes denied and several appeals from absent parties taken under advisement.
