REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: ! Austin, Texas, December 24, 1940. The Oity Council convened in regular session at the regular meeting place in the Council Room at the Municipal Building, on Tuesday, December 24, 1940, at 10:00 A. M.. with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following members presents Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis. Meyor Miller, and Councilman Wolf; absent, NONE, On account of the Christmas Holidays, the meeting was held on Tuesday instead of Thursday, the regular meeting day. The Minutes of the regular meeting of December 19, 1940, were read, and upon motion of Counc11man Alford, were adopted as read by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gi1118, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf; nays, none. In accordance with the published notice thereof, the public hearing on the General Budget of the City of Austin for the year 1941 was opened. No taxpayer or other interested citizen requesting to be heard at such hearing, the hearing was ordered closed. Councilman Wolf then moved that the tentative budget, with certain changes as shown on the Oity Manager's copy filed herewith, be approved. The motion prevailed by the following votes Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf; nays, none. The following resolution was introduced. WHEREAS, City of Austin taxes were assessed in the name of Mrs. Ada C. Penn for the years 1931, 1932, 1938, and 1939, on 58x461 of Lots 64 and 65, Outlot 72-75, Division 0, Oakwood, Lots 6, 7, and 8, Block 5, Outlot 75, Division D, Penn Subdivision, 140x60 Backlotted, Block 6, Outlot 75. Division D. Lot 54 & 8. 201 of Lot 55, Outlot 72-75, Division D, Oakwood, Lot 76, Outlot 72-75. Division D, Oakwood, Lots 12 and 13, Block 5, Outlot 75, Division D, Fonn Subdivision, Lote 57, 58 and 59. Outlot 72-75, D, Oakwood, the East 27x113' of Lots 61, 62, and 63, Outlot 72-75, Division D. Oakwood, Lot 9, Block 6, Outlot 75, Division D, Fenn Subdivision, together with a 1935 Dodge, all locat- ed in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, said taxes being for the sum of $484.53; and for non-payment of same at maturity, penalty in the sum of $24.22 has been assessed, and interest in the sum of $89.56, making the total amount of taxes, penalty and interest $598.31; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the Oity of Austin deems it just and equitable to remit said penalty in the sum of $24,22, and one-half of the interest in the sum of $44.78; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the aforesaid penalty in the sum of $24.22, and one-half of the interest in the sum of $44.76, are hereby remitted, and the Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Austin is authorised and directed to charge said penalty in the sum of $24.22 and one-half of the interest in the sum of $44.78 off his rolls, and to issue to the party entitled to receive same a receipt in full upon the payment of said taxes and one-half of the interest, as aforesaid. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following votes Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, G11118, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf; nays, none. The following resolution was introduceds WHEREAS, City of Austin taxes were assessed in the name of Will Smith for the years 1932 through 1939. on Lot 10, Block 10, Outlot 34, Division B, in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, said taxes being for the sum of $114.42; and for non-payment of said taxes at maturity, penalty in the sun of $5.72 has been assessed, and interest in the sum of $27.90, making the total amount of taxes, penalty and interest $148.02; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Austin deems it just and equitable to remit said penalty in the sum of $5.72 and one half of the interest in the sum of $13.95; therefore, 627 m 628 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the aforesaid penalty in the sum of $5.72 and one-half of the interest in the sum of $13.95 are hereby remitted, and the Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Austin is authorised and directed to charge said penalty in the sum of $5.72 and one-half of the interest in the sum of $13.95 off his rolls, and to issue to the party entitled to receive same a receipt in full upon the amount of said taxes and one-half of the interest as aforesaid. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, 01111s, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolfi nays, none.
