SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, March 14, 1942. Pursuant to call by the Mayor, the City Council convened in special session, at the Municipal Building on Saturday, March 14, 1942, at three o'clock P. M., with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following mombors present: Councilmen Chas. F. Alford, Eugeno C. Bartholomov, Simon Gillis, Mayor Tom Miller, and Councilman Oswald G. Wolf; absent, none. The following "Notice of Special Meeting" was ordered spread on the minutes: NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETTING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin w11.1. bo held on the 14th day of March, 1942, at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado Streets, in Austin, at three o'clock P. M., for the purpose of authorizing the City Manager to advertise for sale, bonds of said City, in the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($600,000.00), for the purpose of condemning or purchasing, cither or both, lands located within or without the corporate limite of the City of Austin, to be used, maintained, and operated as an airport, and for improving and equipping the same for such use. WOLF, COUNCILMAN The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Wolf: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids on the sale of SIX HUNDRED THOUSAID DOLLARS ($600,000.00) of City of Austin Airport Bonds, Scries of 1942, or so much thereof, based on the maturity schedulos set out in the bid proposal, as the City Council may elect to sell, but in no event less than $300,000.00, which bends were authorized at a special election held in the City of Austin March 4, 1942. The advertisement for such bids shall be in the usual and customary form, and shall be published at least once in a newspaper of general. circulation published in the City of Austin, and in the "Bond Buyer", and the right shall be reserved to the City of Austin to reject any and all bids. Mayor Austin, Texas, March 17, 1942. The City Council convened in regular session at the regular meeting place in the Council. Chamber at the Municipal Building, on March 17, 1942, at 10:30 A. M., with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following members present: Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Volf; absent, Councilman Bartholomew. At the request of the Mayor, the meeting was hold on Tuesday inatend of Thursday, the regular meeting day. The Minutes of the regular meeting of March 12, and the special meeting of March 14, 1942, woro read, and upon motion of Councilman Alford, were adopted as read by the following vote: nyos, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf; nays, none; Councilman Bartholomew absent. Committees from the Chamber of Commerce, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Rotary Club, South Austin Civic Club, Kiwanis Club, Exchange Club, Twenty-Thirty Club, Defense Recreational Council, and a number of citizens individually, came before the Council and urged that the City start immodiato Construction on the bath house at Barton Springs in order to accommodate the great influx of soldiers from Camp Swift and other Government units; and that the present light rates be maintained this year without thought of rebate the money thus saved to be used for the furtherance of the recreational program induced by the war. , Following the discussion, it was moved by Councilman Wolf that the City Manager be instructed to proceed at once with securing prices on the construction of the bath house at Barton Springs under the plans and specifications already drawn, and that the $50,000 set aside in the Budget be used for this
