74 REGULAR MENTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Toxos, November 12, 19 The City Council convened in regular mension, at the regular meeting place in the Comell Chamber at the Municipal Building, on Thursday, November 12, 1947, at 10:40 A. M., with Mayor Tom Miller preniding. Roll coll showed the following members presents Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillin, and Kayor Miller; nheont, Councilman Wolf. There were present also: Acting City Manager Seaholm, Acting City Attorney Randle: City Engineer Hotheral; and Chief of Police Thorp. The Minuten of the regular meeting of November 5, 1942, were rond, and upon motion of Councilman Alford, were adopted as rend by the following vote: "ayan," Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillin, and Mayor Miller; "nays," none; Councilman Wolf absent. A. F. Smith came before the Council and submitted a roquent that the City, in compliance with an alloged oral agreement heretofore made by the Water Department, and in return for the use of water lines belonging to him on other streets, take up and deliver to him the water pipo on his property in Highland Addition which the City has replaced with a larger main. Following some discussion, it was the sense of the Council that, on an equitable adjustment of the matter, the City agrees that at such time as it is released from the restrictions imposed by the War Production Board, and desires to put in a larger water main on the streets where water lines balonging to the said A. F. Smith are located and being served by the City, it will, where practicable to do so, follow the course of the lines then in place, thereby removing the pipe and delivering come to the said A. F. Smith. A petition from patrons of Wooldridge School, asking for certain changes in the University bun schedule, was received; and the matter was referred to E. P. Cravens and J. H. McCinin of the Austin Troneit Company for consideration. A petition from patrons of Travis Heights School, complaining of unenfe condition of foot bridgo Across Blunn Creek nonr the school, was received; and the matter was roferred to the City Engineer to get the consent of the owner of the property to the City's building new bridge there, provided the cost of enmo is not too much. The following resolution was introduced by Mayor Millert (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, The Honorable Oswald G. Wolf, on the Third day of April, 1933, was duly elected by popular vote as a member of the City Council of the Oity of Austin, Texas, and has been duly re-elected continuously since that time to that position, and is now a member in good standing of the City Council; and WHEREAS, Councilman Wolf was elected by the City Council as Mayor pro tempore at the inauguration on his first term of office in the City Council; and WHEREAS, Councilman Wolf has now been commissioned as a Lieutenant (jg) in the United States Naval Reserve, and has now received orders to report to the Naval Reserve Armory, Los Angeles, California, on the 16th day of November, 1942; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the Honorable Oswald G. Wolf be, and he is hereby, granted a leave of absence by the City Council for the remainder of his unexpired term. Upon motion of Mayor Miller, the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: "ayes," Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, and Mayor Miller; "nays," none; Councilman Wolf absent. The following resolution was introduced: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, City of Austin taxes were assessed in the name of W. R. E. Boothe Estate for the years 1936 through 1941 on the center 46.66 feet of Lots 7, 8, and 9, and west 46.66 feet of Lots 7, 8, and 9, Block 17, Swisher Addition, City of Austin, Texas, said taxes being for the sum of $369.34; and for non-payment of same at maturity, penalty in the sum of $18.46 has been assessed, and interest in the sum of $68.74, making the total amount of taxes, penalty, and interest, $456.54; and WHEREAS, The Oity Council of the City of Austin deems it just and equitable to remit said penalty in the sum of $18.46, and one-half of the interest in the sum of $34.37; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the aforesaid penalty in the sum of $18.46, and one-half of the interest in the sum of $34.37. are hereby romitted, and the Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Austin is authorised and directed to charge said penalty in the sum of $18.46, and one-half of the interest in the sum of $34.37, off his rolls, and to issue to the party entitled to receive same a receipt in full upon the payment of said taxes and one-half of the interest, as aforesaid.
