Councilman Bartholomew moved that the license be granted. Holmes, colored, 1129 East 11th Street, for a license to operate as a taxicab a Chevrolet Coach, 1939 Model, Motor No. 2436460, State License No. 372-216, duly approved by the Acting City Manager, et al., was submitted. Councilman Bartholomew moved that the license be granted. The motion prevailed by the following vote: "ayes," Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, and Mayor Miller; "naye," none; Councilman Wolf absent. The application of Olyde Montgomery, 2204 Haskell Street, for a license to operate as a taxicab a Chevrolet Sedan, 1940 Model, Motor No. 3092176, State License No.NO6-715, duly approved by the Acting City Manager, et al., was submitted. Councilman Bartholomew moved that the license be granted. The Council unanimously indorsed the message of the Honorable Coke R. Stevenson, Governor, to the 48th Legislature, and expressed assurance that our Senator and Representatives will cooperate with him in his effort for a reasonable law to control the situation which now exists with reference to the closing hours for beer and liquor establishments.
