27 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Recessed Meeting February 22, 1944 11:30 Α.Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall 229 The meeting was called to order, with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call Present: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Absent : Councilman Wolf 1 - 4 Present also: Walter E. Seaholm, Acting City Manager; J. E. Motheral, City Engineer; J. M. Patterson, Jr., Acting City Attorney. The Mayor announced that the meeting was called for the purpose of taking final action on the bids for purchase of property owned by the City on Lamar Boulevard between 6th Street and 12th Street which were received at the last regular meeting and referred to the Engineering Depart- ment for tabulation. The Mayor then declared it to be the decision of the City Council, after careful consideration of same, to reject all bids, except the bid submitted by Judge Ben Powell, in the amount of $6,500.00, for Tract No. 10, located at 910 Lamar Boulevard; all other bids being considered too low. An opportunity to protest the action of the City Council, or otherwise be heard on the matter, was then given all bidders present, and the following then appeared and were heard: ANDREW FLEMING; H. L. BRYANT, personally and by his agent, Clyde Hailey, asking for reconsideration of his bid for a strip twenty feet wide off the rear of the Sophie Domschke property. Action on the matter was deferred, pending an inspection of the property by the City Council with the said H. L. Bryant. The Mayor then announced that no new bids for the purchase of the property on Lamar Boulevard between 6th and 12th Streets would be entertained by the City Council before March 3rd next.
