CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 650 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS November 9,1944 11:00 Α.Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order, with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call Present: Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Absent : Councilmen Alford and Wolf - 2 -3 Present also: Walter E. Seaholm, Acting City Manager; J.E. Motheral, City Engineer; J. M. Patterson, Jr., Acting City Attorney; and R.D. Thorp, Chief of Police. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 2, 1944, were read: and on motion of Councilman Bartholomew were adopted as read by the following vote: Ayes : Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Alford and Wolf The application of ARTHUR ARNOLD, 1303 Bob Harrison Street, for a taxicab driver's permit, duly approved by the Acting City Manager, was submitted. Councilman Bartholomew moved that the permit be granted. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes : Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes : None Absent: Councilmen Alford and Wolf The application of VERNIE RALPH MOORE, 210 East 9th Street, for a taxicab driver's permit, duly approved by the Acting City Manager, was submitted. Councilman Gillis moved that the permit be granted. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes : None Absent: Councilmen Alford and Wolf Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Walter E. Seaholm, Acting City Manager, be, and he is hereby, CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS : 651 authorized and directed to make and enter into a contract in writing with Edward Williams and his wife, Mary Williams, for the conveyance by the City of Austin to the said Edward Williams and Mary Williams of Lot 1, Block 3, Outlot 4, Division "0", in the City of Austin, in consideration of the payment by them of the sum of $375.00 which has heretofore been paid to the City of Austin on their oral contract of purchase from the City, and an obligation of the said Edward Williams and his wife, Mary Williams, to pay the additional sum of $318.94, together with interest thereon, at 6% per annum from November 1, 1944, until paid, such deferred payments to be made at $5.00 per month, the first such payment to be made to the City of Austin on December 1, 1944, and the sum of $5.00 on the first day of each succeeding month until the purchase price, together with all interest thereon, is fully paid; upon the receipt of which the City of Austin will convey its title to said Lot to said parties. Which motion, carrying with it the adoption of the resolution, prevailed by the following votes Ayes : Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes : None Absent: Councilmen Alford and Wolf Councilman Gillis offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Walter E. Seaholm, Acting City Manager of the City of Austin, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Edgar Olfers, Trustee of South Austin Assembly of God, to purchase Lot 4, Block B, J. E. Bouldin Subdivision, City of Austin, for the consideration of $350.00, payable $50.00 in cash, and the balance in monthly installments of $15.00 each, with interest on deferred payments at 6% per annum; and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and in behalf of the City of Austin a special warranty deed to said South Austin Assembly of God, conveying the above described property upon payment in full of said consideration, all in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract of sale, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. Which motion, carrying with it the adoption of the resolution, prevailed by the following vote: Ayes : Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes : None Absent: Councilmen Alford and Wolf There being no further business, upon motion, seconded and carried, the meeting was recessed at 11:20 A.
