CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 681 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Recessed Meeting December 20,1944 3:00 P.M. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order, with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call Present: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Mayor Millerz Absent : Councilmen Gillis and Wolf 2 - Present also: Walter E. Seaholm, Acting City Manager, T. B. Marshall, Tax Assessor and Collector; J. M. Patterson, Jr., Acting City Attorney; and all members of the Board of Equalization. The Mayor stated that the meeting was called for the purpose of considering the appeals of taxpayers from the action of the Board of Equal- ization for the year 1944; and the following persons then appeared and were heard: W. R. SMITH, representing M. J. McCandless, owner of the BOWLING CENTER, 417 West 6th Street, protested the valuation placed on said property. After considering the appeal, it was moved by Councilman Alford that the assessment of $12,500.00 on the Bowling Alleys and Equipment be reduced to $7,800.00; that the assessment of $1,000.00 on the Air Conditioning be reduced to $600.00; and that no reduction be made in the assessment of $100.00 on the Merchandise of said Bowling Center. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes : Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, and Mayor Miller Noes : None Absent: Councilmen Gillis and Wolf J. B. ROBERTSON, representing the ROBERTSON ESTATE, protested the valuations placed on the property of said Estate, After considering the appeal, Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION ) WHEREAS, it has been determined that the assessment for taxes for the years 1939 through 1944, inclusive, on the hereinafter described CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 682 property and improvements thereon, assessed in the names of Margaret Robertson, W. T. Robertson, J. B. Robertson and Mrs. Zeno C. Ross are excessive and should be cancelled and corrected for said years; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the assessment for taxes on the following described property for the years 1939 through 1944, inclusive, be, and the same is hereby corrected from the present assessed value as shown by the records of the City Tax Assessor and Collector to the values hereinafter shown, as follows: Description Land Imps.
