Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order, with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call Present: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Absent : Councilman Wolf - 1 4 Present also: Walter E. Seaholm, Acting City Manager; J. E. Motheral, City Engineer; W. T. Williams, City Attorney; and R. D. Thorp, Chief of Police. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 19, 1945, were read; and on motion of Councilman Alford were adopted as read by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes: None Absent: Councilman Wolf The following ordinance was introduced, discussed, and ordered laid on the table pending a public hearing on same, called for Thursday, May 17, at 11:00 A. Μ. : AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THAT CERTAIN ORDINANCE PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, JULY 17, 1941, BEING A GENERAL REVISION OF THE ZONING ORDI NANCE OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, WHICH AMENDATORY ORDINANCE IS RECORDED IN BOOK "L", PAGES 152174, INCLUSIVE, OF THE ORDINANCE RECORDS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, THE AMENDATORY ORDINANCE HEREBY ENACTED MAKING CERTAIN ADDITIONS AND CHANGING IN CERTAIN PARTICULARS THE WORDING OF THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS: SECTION 2; ITEM 4, SECTION 4; ITEM 13(2), SECTION 4; ITEM 6, SECTION 5; ITEM 7, SECTION 5; ITEM 8(c), SECTION 5; SECTION 6; ITEM 2, SECTION 7; SECTION 27(b)(5); SECTION 31(b); SECTION 31(c); PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 345 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 345 The application of WILTON SCONCI, 300 Congress Avenue, for a license to operate as a taxicab a 4-door Chevrolet Sedan, 1940 Model, State License No. FR-7008, to replace Taxicab License No. 24 cancelled by Tony Antory Sconci, duly approved by the Acting City Manager, was submitted. Councilman Alford moved that the application be approved: The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes : None Absent: Councilman Wolf The application of LUTHER GORDON DAY, 300 Congress Avenue, for a license to operate as a taxicab a 4-door Chevrolet Sedan, 1942 Model, State License No. FR-2757, to replace Taxicab License No. 60 cancelled by Tony Sconci, duly approved by the Acting City Manager, was submitted. Councilman Alford moved that the application be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes: None Absent: Councilman Wolf. The following resolution was submitted: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, the City of Austin taxes for the years 1931 through 1941 were assessed in the name of Dr. G. F. Eckhardt on personal property in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, said taxes for said years being in the amount of $53.28, and for non-payment of same at maturity, penalty in the sum of $2.67 has been assessed, and interest in the amount of $25.53 has accrued, making the total amount of taxes, penalty and interest due $81.48; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Austin deems it just and equitable to remit said penalty in the sum of $2.67 and one-half of the interest in the sum of $12.76; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the aforesaid penalty in the sum of $2.67 and one-half of the in terest in the sum of $12.76 are hereby remitted, and the Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Austin is hereby authorized and directed to charge said penalty in the sum of $2.67 and said interest in the sum of $12.76 off his rolls, and to issue to the party entitled to receive same a receipt in full upon the payment of the taxes and one-half of the interest as aforesaid. vote: Upon motion, the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Noes: None Absent: Councilman Wolf The following resolution was submitted: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, the City of Austin taxes for the years 1934 through 1943 were assessed in the name of Mose Attal on the W. 46' of Lot 3, Block 88, Original 346 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 346 City, Plat 9, in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas; said taxes for said years being in the amount of $546.08, and for non-payment of same at maturity, penalty in the sum of $27.30 has been assessed, and interest in the amount of $178.46 has accrued, making the total amount of taxes, penalty and interest due $751.84; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Austin deems it just and equitable to remit said penalty in the sum of $27.30 and one-half of the interest in the sum of $89.23; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the aforesaid penalty in the sum of $27.30 and one-half of the interest in the sum of $89.23 are hereby remitted, and the Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Austin is hereby authorized and directed to charge said penalty in the sum of $27.30 and said interest in the sum of $89.23 off his rolls, and to issue to the party entitled to receive same a receipt in full upon the payment of the aforesaid taxes and one-half of the interest as aforesaid. vote: Upon motion, the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller Ayes : Noes : None Absent: Councilman Wolf There being no further business, upon motion, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A.
