CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 605 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Regular Meeting November 21,1945 10:50 Α. Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall The Meeting was called to order, with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call Present: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller and Councilman Wolf Absent: None Present also: Guiton Morgan, City Manager; J. E. Motheral, City Engineer; W. T. Williams, City Attorney; R. D. Thorp, Chief of Police. The minutes of the regular meeting held November 8, 1945, were read and on motion of Councilman Alford were adopted as read by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller and Noes: Councilman Wolf None Absent: None Mr. Henry Parkinson, representing the Austin Musician's Union, appeared before the Council to ask that the appropriation for Summer Concerts be increased in the 1946 budget from $2,000 to $5,000, so that the summer concerts could be increased from 12 to 15 and the number of musicians from 30 to 50. The Mayor assured Mr. Parkinson that consideration would be given his request when the 1946 budget for the Recreation Department was made up, and, if it was found possible to make this increase, it would be done. Mr. Richard Pryor appeared before the Council and presented a petition from a number of regular swimmers using Zilker Springs Pool requesting that the City clean and repaint the present bathhouse at the pool and use same until such time as a new bathhouse could be built without reducing the size of the proposed plans or cutting anything out of the project. After the Mayor explained that the City did not intend to cut anything out of the original plans for the bathhouse, Mr. Pryor withdrew his petition and said that he knew all of the signers would be very happy to have the new bathhouse. The Zilker Springs Bathhouse Committee from the Chamber of Commerce wase present and after hearing the Mayor state that the bathhouse would be build according to the original plans and specifications expressed their appreciation of the Council's decision. Councilman Wolf offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 606 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Guiton Morgan, City Manager of the City of Austin, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to make and enter into contract on behalf of the City of Austin with Fox-Schmidt, a partnership composed of Edgar Fox and A. W. Schmidt, for the plumbing and electric equipment and installation thereof in Zilker Springs Bath House, in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by the Engineering Department of the City of Austin for the sum of Twenty- One Thousand One Hundred Fifty-three ($21,153.00) Dollars to be paid to said Fox-Schmidt by the City of Austin. Which motion, carrying with it the adoption of the resolution, prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller and ion: Councilman Wolf Noes: None Absent: None Councilman Gillis offered the following resolution and moved its adopt(RESOLUTION) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Guiton Morgan, City Manager of the City of Austin, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with ROLAND B. MOORE, doing business under the name of MOORE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, for the construction of a bath house at Zilker Springs, to be known as Zilker Springs Bath House, in accordance with plans and specifications prepared for the construction of said bath house, for compensation to the said MOORE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY of actual cost of such bath house, plus a fixed compensation to MOORE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY of Ten Thousand ($10,000.00) Dollars in addition to the cost of said bath house. Which motion, carrying with it the adoption of the resolution, prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller and Councilman Wolf Noes: None Absent: None The application of James L. Councilman Wolf moved that the Taxicab Driver's permit issued to DELMAR WOODY CARROLL, 2119 Brackenridge, be revoked because of the very bad traffic record he has, and upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police and City Manager.
