377 219 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Special Meeting February 15, 1946 3:30 Ρ. Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order, with Mayor Tom Miller pesiding. Roll Call Present: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller and Councilman Wolf Absent: None The Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the housing problem for Veterans. He stated that a contract covering the 130 family dwelling units which the Government is to furnish the City had been received from the Regional Director of the Federal Public Housing Authority, and that it was necessary that these contracts be signed and returned to the Regional Director as soon possible; therefore, he would entertain a motion for passage of the following resolution: Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Tom Miller, Mayor, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Austin a contract with the National Housing Agency, Federal Public Housing Authority, substantially in accordance with the terms and provisions of the negotiated contract attached hereto and made a part of this resolution for all purposes, such contract to cover Project No. TEX-V-41739, being for the construction and operation of temporary dwelling accommodations, consisting of approximately one hundred thirty (130) family dwelling units, to be located on the Butler Tract owned by the City of Austin, south of the Colorado River. The motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution, prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf Noes: None There being no further business, upon motion seconded and carried, the meeting was recessed at 4 P.
