Council Chamber, City Hall 184 In pursuance of call by Mayor Tom Miller, the City Council convened in special session at the regular meeting place in the Council Chamber in the Municipal Building on Saturday, March 13, 1948, at ten o'clock A. M., with the Mayor presiding. Roll call: Present: Councilmen Bartholomew, Glass, Johnson, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Thornberry-5 Absent: None The following NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING was ordered spread on the Minutes: 11 NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING Notice is hereby given that a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin will be held on the 13th day of March, 1948, at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado Streets, in Austin, Texas, at ten o'clock A. M. for the purpose of amending that certain ordinance authorizing the issuance of City of Austin General Obligation Bonds to the amount of $50,000.00 for the purpose of constructing a low water bridge across the Colorado River below Lake Austin, which ordinance was passed by the City Council March 4, 1948. CONSENT TO MEETING We, the undersigned members of the City Council, hereby accept service of the foregoing notice, waiving any and all irregularities in such service and such notice, and consent and agree that said City Council shall meet at the time and place therein named, and for the purposes therein stated. Johnson 11 Homer Thornberry The following ordinance was introduced by Mayor Miller: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THAT CERTAIN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, TO THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A LOW WATER BRIDGE ACROSS THE COLORADO RIVER BELOW LAKE AUSTIN AND FOR ACQUIRING NECESSARY LANDS AND RIGHTS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF SAID BONDS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, WHICH ORDINANCE WAS PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, MARCH 4, 1948, AND IS RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK "N", OF THE ORDINANCE RECORDS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, BY AMENDING SECTION 7 OF SAID ORDINANCE AS TO THE AMOUNT OF ANNUAL TAX LEVIED TO PAY INTEREST AND CREATE A SINKING FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Bartholomew moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be passed to its second reading. The motion was seconded by Councilman Glass and the same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes : Councilmen Bartholomew, Glass, Johnson, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Thornberry Noes : None The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Bartholomew moved that the rules be further suspended and the ordinance be passed to its third reading. The motion was seconded by Councilman Glass and the same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes : Councilmen Bartholomew, Glass, Johnson, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Thornberry Noes : None The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Bartholomew moved that the ordinance be finally passed. The motion was seconded by Councilman Glass, and the same prevailed by the following vote: 184 186 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Ayes: Councilman Bartholomew, Glass, Johnson, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Thornberry Noes: None The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been finally passed.
