304 304 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Public Zoning Hearing June 07, 1949 Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Glass presiding. Roll Call: Present: Absent: Councilmen Drake, Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, Mayor Glass None Present also: Guiton Morgan, City Manager; Trueman E. O'Quinn, City Attorney Public hearings on the following applications for change in zoning were advertised for this date at 10:00 A. M. LEOPOLD COHN 501 Walsh Street From "B" Residential To "C" Commercial RECOMMENDED by the Zoning Board Mr. Cohn appeared in his own behalf for the change. Mr. Adolph Schutze appeared in protest. Mr. Cohn stated he wanted this change so that he could establish a tire-repair business. Mr. Schutze stated if this were the case, he had no objection to the tire repair business. Councilman Drake moved that the recommendation of the Zoning Board be upheld and that the change in zoning be granted. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Drake, Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, Mayor Glass Noes: None JACK KEY 3413-3415 East Ave. From "A" Residential To "C" Commercial RECOMMENDED Mr. Rickey Key represented Mr. Jack Key in this zoning request. There was no opposition to the change, and Councilman Long moved that the recommendation of the Zoning Board of Adjustment be upheld and the change granted as requested, with his acceptance of the proposed 25 foot set-back. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Drake, Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, Mayor Glass Noes: None 30 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 305 NICK LINZ 802 East 20th St. From "A" Residential To "C" Commercial RECOMMENDED by the Zoning Board Mr. Fallon represented Mr. Linz in this zoning request. No one appeard in protest. Mayor Glass explained to Mr. Fallon that this change was subject to a 25 foot set back on East Avenue, Councilman Johnson moved that the recommendation of the Zoning Board be upheld and that the change be granted, to in- clude the city property between Mr. Linz's property and East Avenue. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Drake, Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, Mayor Glass Noes: None JOE B. TORREZ 2211 Santa Rita From "A" Residential To "C" Commercial NOT Recommended by the Zoning Board Public hearing on this application was continued to the next meeting, Thursday, June 9, as Mr. Torres was not present. A discussion of the disposition of the pieces of property left over from the right-of-way purchases was held, and it was decided to appraise all of those tracts separately and notify the adjoining property owners. Councilman Long moved that an ordinance be drawn up for first reading June 9th, setting out the 25-foot set-back on East Avenue, from the Manor Road north to the City limits. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Drake, Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, Mayor Glass Noes: None Councilman MacCorkle moved that the City Attorney be instructed to submit an ordinance for first reading on the East 7th Street set-back, having it ready for June 9th.
