135 135 CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Special Meeting February 25, 1953 3:30 Ρ. Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall .... The meeting was called to order with Mayor Drake presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, White, Mayor Drake Absent: None Present also: W. E. Seaholm, City Manager; W. T. Williams, Jr., City Attorney; C. G. Levander, Director of Public Works. NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin will be held on the 25th day of February, 1953, at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado Streets, in Austin, Texas, at 3:30 P. M. for the purpose of discussing planning and zoning. Dated this the 25th day of February. ATTEST: (Sgd) Elsie Woosley City Clerk (Sgd) W. S. Drake, Jr. Mayor City of Austin, Texas i 136 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 136 CONSENT TO MEETING We, the undersigned members of the City Council, hereby accept service of the foregoing notice, waiving any and all irregularities in such service and such notice, and consent and agree that said City Council shall meet at the time and place therein named, and for the purposes therein stated. (S) Will T. Johnson (S) Stuart A. MacCorkle (S) Ben White (S) Mrs. Stuart Long Discussion was held on appointing an interim board to keep the work moving, until the new Council came in. It was also pointed out that it was necessary to have someone who was familiar with zoning and planning rather than getting someone that would have to educate himself along these lines. Some of the members of the Planning Board and Zoning Commission had wanted to resign, and some had stated they could not serve. It was suggested that the following be asked to serve: MR. WOODROW PATTERSON MRS. R. P. WAGNER MR. H. E. JESSEN MR. TOM GRAHAM MR. R. W. BYRAM MR. GEORGE SANDLIN MR. WALTER GUTTMAN MR. H. D. PRUETT Ex-officio MR. MURRAY RAMSEY MRS. PAUL GRIFFITH MR. CHARLIE GRANGER MRS. FRANCIS R. HODGE MR. KARL MCGINNIS MR. HUGO KUEHNE Councilman White moved that those nine persons be asked to serve as a Planning Commission until June 1st, and that the other five be asked to serve as ex-officio members of that Commission to sit, advise and study with them. The motion, seconded by Councilman Johnson, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, White, Mayor Drake Noes: None Councilman Johnson moved that the Council instruct the City Manager to have drawn the necessary ordinance for enactment according to the wishes of the City Council at this Special meeting on February 25th. The motion, seconded by Councilman White, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Johnson, Long, MacCorkle, White, Mayor Drake Noes: None 137 137 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS There being no further business, the Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor.
