Council Chamber, City Hall 150 150 The meeting was called to order with Mayor McAden presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Long, Pearson, Thompson, White, Mayor McAden Absent: None NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that an Executive Meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin will be held on the 17th day of February, 1954, at the Municipal Building, Eight and Colorado, in Austin, Texas at 2:00 P. M. for the purpose of considering and making appointments of various Boards; and discussing administrative salaries. (Sgd) C. A. Thompson 151 151 Councilman Thompson moved that the Council reappoint the following members of the Zoning Board of Adjustment for another term, term to expire December 31, 1955: ART WILKE DAVE SHIPWASH H. M. TOTLAND vote: The motion, seconded by Councilman Pearson, carried by the following Ayes: Councilmen Long, Pearson, Thompson, White, Mayor McAden Noes: None The following were discussed as objectives for a slum-clearance committee: Appoint an Advisory Committee to the City Council for a period of six months to be known as the Greater East Austin Development Committee. Objectives to be achieved as follows: (1) Master study of a geographical area of East Austin. (2) Try to coordinate a program through community participation including churches and civic organizations which will set up an example area. (3) Review and revision of ordinances relating to the problems of the area. (4) Work out methods of enforcement of agreed-upon plan. (5) Copy of this Resolution to be sent to the Plan Commission. (6) The Committee to report back to the Council when they complete the job. The Council unanimously adopted the above as the objectives of the Committee. Councilman Thompson moved that the Council appoint the Committee as outlined by Councilman Pearson. (In his recommendation of February lith.) The motion lost for lack of a second. Additional names were submitted. Councilman Thompson again moved that the personnel of this committee be appointed from the list as originally submitted by Councilman Pearson.
