43435 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin will be held on the 25th day of May, 1955 at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado, in Austin, Texas at 6:00 P.M. for the purpose of going over the financial condition of the City. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Absent: None Present also: W. T. Williams, Jr., City Manager; Doren R. Eskew, City Attorney; Reuben Rountree, Jr., Director of Public Works. The Mayor announced that this was a meeting called for the purpose of studying the financial condition of the City. The Finance Director was present to present the statements and figures. Statements for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1955, discussed in detail were: GENERAL FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED RECEIPTS, DISBURSEMENTS AND BALANCES GENERAL FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED REVENUE GENERAL FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED OPERATING EXPENSES GENERAL FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED PROPERTY ADDITIONS UTILITY FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL & ESTIMATED RECEIPTS, DISBURSEMENTS AND BALANCES UTILITY FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED REVENUES UTILITY FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED OPERATING EXPENSES GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND FUNDS, STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED RECEIPTS, DISBURSEMENTS AND BALANCES UTILITY REVENUE BOND FUND, STATEMENT OF ACTUAL AND ESTIMATED RECEIPTS, DISBURSEMENTS AND BALANCES ANALYSIS OF AD VALOREM TAX LEVY ASSESSED JANUARY 1, 1955, WITH ESTIMATED COLLECTIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1956 OCTOBER 1, 1955-SEPTEMBER 30, 1956 SPECIAL BOND FUND B-7, HOSPITAL IMPROVEMENTS, STATEMENT OF RECEIPTS, DISBURSEMENTS AND BALANCES, MAY 13, 1955. Discussion of inventory and periodic checks, and the method of handling the inventory and accounting for it, was held. CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: 437437 Mayor Miller figured out a table of how much tax money would be needed to raise a certain amount of money--for $18,000, 1/2 cent tax, etc. The Council wanted to study the figures submitted by the Finance Director and have another meeting with him soon. The Finance Director was commended on the excellent report. In conclusion, the Mayor asked if he thought the City, so far this year, was running along pretty well and that based on a good five months that it would be in fair shape, and there would be a possibility of keeping the tax rate as is as far as the City was concerned, as it was last year, with the exception of the interest and sinking fund. The Finance Director stated it would, unless there were a large bond issue. There being no further business, the Council adjourned at 7:30P.M. subject to the call of the Mayor.
