598 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin will be held on the 29th day of August, 1956, at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado, in Austin, Texas, at 10:30 A.M. for the purpose of Receiving the Budget and set a public hearing on the Budget; rejecting bids and authorizing readvertisement of sale of property; annexation and other matters. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call: Present: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Absent: None The Mayor announced that this meeting was called for the purpose of receiving the Budget and setting a public hearing on the Budget; for rejecting certain bids and authorizing the readvertisement of sale of some property; and for discussing annexation and other matters. The Mayor stated he had invited the people favoring incorporating Eubanks Acres and Walnut Forrest to come down to discuss the matter, at the Thursday meeting. Councilman Palmer moved that they reject the bids on the following property and readvertise the sale, bids to be opened on September 12th and come before the Council September 13th: 4507 Speedway House and Lot : Northeast corner of the intersection of Old 19th Street and Lamar. The motion, seconded by Councilman Long, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Noes: None Councilman White offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, on August 22, 1956, W. T. Williams, Jr., City Manager, did file with the City Clerk the proposed budget for the operation of the City of Austin for the fiscal year 1956-57; Now, Therefore, 600 600 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the public hearing on said budget will be held in the City Council Chamber at the City Hall on September 25, 1956, at 10:30 o'clock A. M., and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Clerk shall publish, or cause to be published, public notices advertising said public hearing. The motion, seconded by Councilman Palmer, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Noes: None The Mayor asked that all down-town property owners between Guadalupe and San Jacinto; and three or four blocks around the University area be notified of the public hearing on accessways across alleys to be held at 8:00 P. Μ., September 13th. He asked that this also be advertised in the paper. The Council noted a letter from RICHARD SCHMIDT requesting special assignment of the Contract for construction of reinforced Storm Sewer in South 1st Street at Oltorf $13,795.95 naming W. S. CONNER.
