Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call: Present: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Absent: None 659 The Mayor announced that this meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the budget for the coming year. The Council went through the Budget, and made definite inquiries to which the City Manager made explanation. The Council generally felt that additional personnel should be added very slowly, and suggested that the Departments, with particular reference to Assistants, see how they could operate without employing them first. The Mayor stated this was the maximum budget to take care of the needs. The Mayor stated a new policy must be made in the Water and Light Department where service is cut-off on delinquent accounts. He suggested the cut-off days should be Monday through Thursday; and any cut-offs scheduled for Friday should be delayed until Monday, as the customer would not have an opportunity of paying his bill and getting the service turned on during the week-end. Councilman Palmer asked that a study be made of the parking markings on East 9th Street from the alley up to Brazos, with the idea of making the spaces a little wider. As to the Budget, Page 121, where the Auditorium Revenue Bonds were listed, it was suggested that since these had been cancelled out on August 4th, that they not be listed in the final printing of the Budget.
