CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 1011 1011 The Council held discussion on the destruction of the O. Henry Honeymoon Cottage which burned on December 23, 1956, 8:44 P.M. The Heritage Society had shown good faith in fixing it up--having fixed the foundation, repaired the chimneys with new brick, and had started reroofing the building. The City Manager stated an investigation was under way by the Fire Marshal, but no report had been completed yet. He stated there was a standing $300.00 reward for the arrest and conviction of any person guilty of committing the crime of Arson within the City limits. Mr. Blodgett asked the Council about the concessioneer at the canteen in the City Hall; that the Blind Commission would like to staff the canteen, and it would be well to go ahead and make plans. The Mayor stated that it should be someone that would be satisfactory to the employees of the city; that he wanted to see the Blind people handle it if satisfactory. Councilman Long suggested putting the concession on a yearly basis, and Mr. Palmer suggested getting a concessioneer that could make it a paying stand. The Council stood in silence in memory of MR.
