Councilman White moved that the Minutes of the Meeting of February 6, 1958, and of two special meetings held on December 6, 1957, and on January 14, 1958, be approved. The motion, seconded by Councilman Palmer, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen LongenPalmer, White, Mayor Miller Noes: None Absent: Councilman Pearson MR. CATO SALOS, President, LULAC Council No. 85, and MR. GARCIA, appeared before the Council requesting the Mayor to proclaim February 16-22 as LULAC WEEK. Councilman Long offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has presented to the City Council tentative maps or plans showing the proposed construction of its underground telephone conduits in the streets in the City of Austin hereafter named and said maps or plans have been considered by the Director of Public Works; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company be and the same is hereby permitted to construct its underground telephone conduits in the following streets: (1) An underground telephone conduit crossing BRIARCLIFF BOULEVARD, the centerline of which conduit shall extend from a point ll feet south of the north property line of said Briarcliff Boulevard and 35 feet east of the east property line of Cameron Road, in a southeasterly direction to a point ll feet north of the south property line of sand Briarcliff Boulevard and 165 feet east of the east property line of said Cameron Road. (2) An underground telephone conduit in BRIARCLIFF BOULEVARD, from a point 165 feet east of the east property line of Cameron Road easterly to Berkman Drive the centerline of which underground telephone conduit shall be 11 feet north of and parallel to the south property line of said BRIARCLIFF BOULEVARD. (3) An underground telephone conduit in BRIARCLIFF BOULEVARD from Berkman Drive to Wheless Lane, the centerline of which underground telephone conduit shall be 6 feet north of and parallel to the south property line of said BRIARCLIFF BOULEVARD. (4) An underground telephone conduit in WHELESS LANE from Briarcliff Boulevard to North Hampton Drive, the centerline of which underground telephone conduit shall be 15 feet north of and parallel to the south property line of said WHELESS LANE. (5) An underground telephone conduit in WHELESS LANE, CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 125 125 from North Hampton Drive southerly approximately 410 feet to an angle point in said Wheless Lane, the centerline of which underground telephone conduit shall be 15 feet east of and parallel to the west property line of said WHELESS LANE. (6) An underground telephone conduit in WHELESS LANE, from an angle point in Wheless Lane approximately 410 feet south of North Hampton Drive easterly to Manor Road, the centerline of which underground telephone conduit shall be 15 feet north of and parallel to the south property line of said WHELESS LANE. THAT the work and construction of said underground telephone conduits, including the excavation of the streets and the restoration and maintenance of said streets after said underground telephone conduits have been constructed, shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Manager and in accordance with the ordinances and regulations of the City of Austin governing such construction. He recommended rather than adopting the ordinance this morning that a committee be appointed by the Council or by him to work with the builders and make additional study. It was suggested that he appoint the committee. CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 131 131 The Council received a petition filed in the City Clerk's Office by MR. M. C. RENFRO, appealing the action of the City Planning Commission in granting a special permit for the City of Austin, permitting the establishment of a utility service center at the southeast intersection of Koenig Lane and Sunshine Drive. The Council set a hearing on this appeal for Thursday, February 20, 1958, 2:30 Ρ.Μ. The Mayor and City Council greeted the 6th Grade from Popham School at Del Valle.
