39 39 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin will be held on the 19th day of January, 1959, at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado, in Austin, Texas, at 2:00 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the building of the new power plant, and the bid proposals for building, piping and wiring; and to appoint an Auditor. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call: Present: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Absent: None Present also: W. T. Williams, Jr., City Manager; Doren R. Eskew, City Attorney. The Mayor announced that this was a meeting to discuss the building of the new power plant, and the bid proposals for building, piping and wiring; and to appoint an Auditor. The City Manager stated the plans and specifications for constructing the Power Plant were just about complete, and the instructions to bidders and proposal forms were about all that remained to be done before the final printing and advertising for the bids. He explained the two forms of proposals--(1) a combined bid on all three parts of the work (the structure, the power piping and the power wiring) and (2) separate bids on the power piping, power wiring, and the structure, along with an alternate for a combined bid. He submitted a letter from the Consulting Engineers as to additional costs for general supervision and coordinating if separate dontracts were let. Detailed discussion was held. MR. MARCOS LOFTIS, MR. W. K. JENNINGS, MR. GRIMES, and others representing plumbing, carpenters and other crafts were present, and favored separate contracts. After much discussion, the Mayor stated the Council would meet with the consulting engineer before next Thursday and make a decision then to probably take bids both ways. Discussion was held on setting a date for selling Revenue Bonds. Action was deferred until Thursday to set this date. In connection with the bonds, Councilman Long asked that she be furnished a financial statement from the Finance Director. _ CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 41 Councilman Palmer moved that the Auditing Firm of WADE BARTON & MARSH be employed at the same fee that they have been charging. The motion, seconded by Councilman White, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Long, Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Noes: None There being no further business, the Council adjourned at 4:30 Ρ.Μ., subject to the call of the Mayor.
