53 =CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the C City of Austin will be held on the 26 day of January, 1959 at the Municipal Building, Eighth and Colorado, in Austin, Texas, at 3:00 P.M. for the purpose of authorizing contract with Williamson County Water District No. 1. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Miller presiding. Roll call: Present: Councilmen Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Absent: Councilman Long Present also: W. T. Williams, Jr., City Manager; Doren R. Eskew; City Attorney. The Mayor announced that this was a meeting called for the purpose of authorizing a contract with WILLIAMSON COUNTY WATER DISTRICT NO. 1, and for the purpose of reviewing the final bid form to be used in advertising for bids on the Site Improvement and Structures of the Holly Street Power Station, the Power Piping, and Power Wiring. MR. J. P. GIBSON represented the Travis-Williamson County Water Control District No. 1, through which the Williamson County Water District No. I would purchase water. The matter was discussed in length and in detail. Councilman White offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That W. T. Williams, Jr., City Manager, is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Austin with Travis-Williamson County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 and Williamson County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 providing for the sale and delivery of water by Travis-Williamson County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 to Williamson County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1, all as more fully set out in such contract, a copy of which accompanies this Resolution and has been marked for identification by the City Clerk. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to place and keep such copy of said contract in the permanent files of the City Clerk. = CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 55 55 The motion, seconded by Councilman Palmer, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Palmer, Pearson, White, Mayor Miller Noes: None Absent: Councilman Long The City Manager submitted the final bid forms as directed by the Council on January 22, 1959, for the advertising for bids on the Holly Street Power Station structures, piping and wiring. The Council discussed whether or not shows using animals should be held in the Auditorium. The Mayor suggested a formula be set up, excluding wind west shows, a group of tigers or lions, or huge elephants. He saw no objections to dog shows, or in the case at hand, the act in which four small, baby elephants would be used, as long as it were safe. Councilman Pearson saw no objections as long as the animals were kept outside and brought in for the performance. Councilman White stated he would work out the matter with the Shrine Circus..
