Eskew, City Mayor Pro-tem Palmer announced that this special meeting was called to discuss the matter of zoning the east 40 acres of the Hancock tract, and that one of the members, Councilman Perry, would be out of the city for the next two weeks. reading: Mayor Pro-tem Palmer brought up the following ordinance for its third AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THAT CERTAIN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, JULY 17, 1941, AND RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK "L", PAGES 152-174, INCLUSIVE, OF THE ORDINANCE RECORDS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, WHICH ORDINANCE WAS AMENDATORY OF THAT CERTAIN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING REGULATIONS AND DISTRICTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, APRIL 23, 1931, AND RECORDED IN BOOK "I", PAGES 301-318, INCLUSIVE, OF THE ORDINANCE RECORDS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, THE AMENDATORY ORDINANCE HEREBY CHANGING THE USE DESIGNATION FROM "A" RESIDENCE DISTRICT TO "GR" GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT ON A TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY 38 ACRES FRONTING APPROXIMATELY 1050 FEET ON THE EAST RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF RED RIVER STREET; APPROXIMATELY 1480 FEET ON THE NORTH RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF EAST 41ST STREET, AND APPROXIMATELY 1040 FEET ON THE WEST RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF INTERREGIONAL HIGHWAY, LOCALLY KNOWN AS 4101-4209 RED RIVER STREET: 900-1018 EAST 41ST STREET; AND 4100-4210 INTERREGIONAL HIGHWAY, IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TRAVIS 918 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 918 COUNTY, TEXAS; AND ORDERING A CHANGE IN THE USE MAPS SO AS TO RECORD THE CHANGE HEREBY ORDERED. The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Bechtol moved that the ordinance be finally passed.
