- CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Special Meeting Mày 6, 1963 10:00 A. Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Palmer presiding. Roll call: Present: Councilmen Armstrong, Perry, Shanks, White, Mayor Palmer Absent: None The Mayor announced this was a Special Meeting of the City Council, called for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the Run-Off Election held May 4, 1963. The Council made a complete canvass of the returns from the 37 precincts. Councilman White offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, by virtue of a run-off election held in the City of Austin, Texas on the 4th day of May, 1963, for the purpose of electing a Councilman for Place 3, the official returns from the election officials and the canvass thereof by the City Council show that the following named persons each received the total votes opposite their names, respectively, to wit: and, Councilman, Place 3 Louis F. Shanks Paul W. Stimson Received 8,766 Received 8,682 WHEREAS, it appears that Louis F. Shanks received a majority of all votes cast at said run-off election for Councilman, Place No. 3; Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That in accordance with said returns, as received and canvassed, that ) ( CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS May 6, 1963. Louis F. Shanks is hereby declared duly elected and authorized to qualify for the position of Councilman, Place No. 3.
