FRANK MEECE C14-67-68 2505 Westlake Dr. From Interim "A" Residence 1st Height and Area To "B" Residence 2nd Height and Area NOT RECOMMENDED by the Planning Commission Mr. Frank Meece appeared before the Council requesting that the land lying on the west side of Lake Austin called the old Yacht Harbor be designated as "B" Residence, 2nd Height and Area with restrictive covenant. Mr. Meece stated that he intended to build 95 apartment units on the land which was presently designated as Interim "A" Residence, 1st Height and Area and that the area in question had been used for commercial purposes for quite some time. June 15, 1967 -CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS • Opponents to the change were Mr. Carl Wooten, Mr. H.T. McBrayer, and Mr. H.C. Coffield, all nearby home owners in the West Lake Hills area protesting the change on the grounds that the property was not suitable for apartment units. City Manager Williams pointed out that when Austin first adopted zoning, the area was given an interim designation subject to being rezoned by the Council. Councilman Nichols made the point that had Mr. Meece intended to build a "honky tonk" no question concerning the rezoning of the area would have been raised, but that because he intended to build apartments he was giving the area a non-conforming use. After some discussion, Councilman Nichols moved the Council grant the change requested from Interim "A" Residential, lst Height and Area to "B" Residence, 2nd Height and Area.
