His second objection concerned the possibility of his losing the parking area on property that he owned on the corner of Bailey Lare and 34th Street. Robert Sneed, attorney, representing the doctors requesting the street vacations, stated that his clients would be willing to give Mr. Barrow an easement' which would take care of the parking problem. Morris had a petition signed by abutting property owners requesting that the Council consider abandoning a block segment on Post Road. He further pointed out that there was an extreme traffic hazard at the intersection of Alpine Road and South Congress. He stated that if the request was granted, he and neighboring property owners planned to use the area as a parking lot. CONTRACTS AWARDED Mr. Jim Wilson stated that he had received a memorandum from Mr. Dexter Kinney, Director of the Electric Utilities Department, regarding two Feedwater Heaters at Seaholm Plant Unit No. 9 Turbine and one Feedwater Heater No. 11 Holly Street No. 1 Turbine. Mr. Kinney stated that two bids for the heaters had been received and that he recommended awarding the contract to Struthers-Wells for $32,490. After some discussion, Councilman Nichols moved the Council follow the recommendation of Mr. Kinney and award the contract for repairing the two heaters to Struthers-Wells for $32,490. On Mr. Sheffield's recommendation, Councilman Nichols moved the Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Mr. Burnett Barr designating him as tennis pro manager of the Caswell Tennis Center. The City had two years to exercise its option at no expense.
