CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS • MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL • CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Special Meeting October 25, 1967 10:00 A. Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Akin presiding. Roll Call: Present: Mayor Akin, Councilmen Janes, LaRue, Long, Nichols Absent: None : Present also: R. M. Tinstman, City Manager; Doren R. Eskew, City Attorney: Mayor Akin introduced the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14A OF THE AUSTIN CITY CODE OF 1954 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR TWENTY-ONE COMMISSIONERS ON THE CITY OF AUSTIN HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Long moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be passed to its second reading. The motion, seconded by Councilman Janes, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Akin, Councilmen Janes, LaRue, Long, Nichols Noes: None The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Long moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be passed to its third reading. The motion, seconded by Councilman Janes, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Akin, Councilmen Janes, LaRue, Long, Nichols Noes: None The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Long moved that the ordinance be finally passed. The motion, seconded by Councilman Janes, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Akin, Councilmen Janes, LaRue, Long, Nichols Noes: None The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been finally passed. _ CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS October 25, 1967 The Mayor listed the members appointed by the Council to serve on the Human Relations Commission, stating announcement would be made later. Councilman Nichols moved Mr. Harold Montgomery be appointed to serve on the Board of Adjustment to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Tom Bradfield. (For the term extending to December 31, 1968) The motion, seconded by Councilman LaRue, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Janes, LaRue, Long, Nichols, Mayor Akin Noes: None There being no further business, Councilman Janes moved the Council adjourn.
