Council Chamber, City Hall The meeting was called to order with Mayor Akin presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen LaRue, Nichols, Mayor Akin Absent: Councilmen Janes, Long MAYOR AKIN announced this was a Special Meeting called for the purpose of accepting the Resignation of IVAN WILLIAMS as Judge of the Corporation Court. Mayor Akin read Mr. Williams' letter of resignation as follows: "February 5, 1968 "Mayor Akin, Mrs. Long, and Gentlemen: "I do hereby resign as Judge of the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, a municipal corporation, effective February 23, 1968. "It has been my pleasure to serve in the capacity as Judge of the Corporation Court. I shall always be grateful to each of you and to the members of the Council who originally appointed me. "Yours very truly, /s Ivan R. Williams, Jr." Councilman Nichols offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) RESOLVED: That the resignation of Ivan Williams as Judge of the Corporation Court, this day submitted to the Council, be accepted and that the Council does hereby express its decision to be that Ivan Williams will not be the Judge of the Corporation Court of the City of Austin after February 23, 1968. -CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS February 5, 1968 The motion, seconded by Councilman LaRue, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Akin, Councilmen LaRue, Nichols Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Janes, Long Councilman Nichols moved the Council adjourn.
