COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL The meeting was called to order with Mayor LaRue presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Janes, Johnson, Gage, Atkison, Price, MacCorkle Mayor LaRue Absent: None House. The Invocation was delivered by REVEREND ARTHUR R. ANDERSON of the Gardner HEARING ON OUTBOARD MOTORS USE ON TOWN LAKE Mayor LaRue opened the public hearing scheduled for 9:30 A.M. on the use of outboard motors on Town Lake. Several petitions opposing the use of gasoline powered motors on the Lake were presented to the Council. After discussion among the Council and statements by the Council members, Councilman MacCorkle moved the Council close the hearing and leave the ordinance as it was. The motion, seconded by Councilman Johnson, carried by the following vote: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Mayor LaRue Ayes: Noes: None The applicable section of the City Code (29-13) did not permit the general use of gasoline-powered motor boats on Town Lake. December 11, 1969 _ CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS- TWO-WAY TRAFFIC RESOLUTION Councilman Gage offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, after an engineering and traffic investigation, the City Council has found that because of the construction of a parking garage at Whitis Avenue and 20th Street, circumstances have changed such that two-way traffic should be established on Whitis Avenue from 19th Street to 21st Street to allow for the orderly flow of traffic to and from the above mentioned parking garage, and that it be DELETED from the Traffic Register as a one-way street; Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the location upon the street of the City of Austin as above described be designated as a two-way street, and that the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and instructed to record this finding in Section 21-27 of the Traffic Register, and to mark "DELETED" on the Traffic Register which designates the above location a one-way street. This 36-inch concrete steel cylinder main is part of a proposed trunk line to be installed for additional water service to proposed development in the Stassney Lane and Manchaca Road area; this project is being done concurrently with development of Salem Walk to avoid tearing up streets in the future; and, December 11, 1969 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS WHEREAS, the bid of J.C. Evans Construction Company in the sum of $44,960.00 was the lowest and best bid therefor and the acceptance of such bid has been recommended by the Director of Water and Waste Water Department of the City of Austin and by the City Manager; Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the bid of J.C. Evans Construction Company in the sum of $44,960.00 be and the same is hereby accepted and that L.H. Andrews, City Manager of the City of Austin, be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City with J.C. Evans Construction Company. The motion, seconded by Councilman Johnson, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Mayor LaRue Noes: None December 11, 1969 = CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS SPACE ASSIGNMENT Councilman Gage offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the application of the City National Bank of Austin, Texas, to construct and maintain the hereinafter described underground improvement: A pneumatic tube in CONGRESS AVENUE, from the east property line of said CONGRESS AVENUE to the west property line of said CONGRESS AVENUE; the centerline of which pneumatic tube shall be 42 feet south of and parallel to the centerline of NINTH STREET. be and the same is hereby granted and the Building Inspector is hereby authorized to issue a permit for the construction of such improvements, said grant and permit to be subject to the following conditions: (1) The improvements shall be constructed and maintained in compliance with all ordinances relating thereto. (2) The permit shall be issued and accepted subject to all reasonable police, traffic, fire and health regulations of the City of Austin, now existing or hereafter adopted. (3) The repair or relocation of any and all utilities in the vicinity necessitated by the laying of these improvements shall be done at the expense of the City National Bank of Austin, Texas. (4) The City National Bank of. Austin, Texas, will indemnify and save the City of Austin harmless from any and all claims against said City growing out of or connected with the construction or maintenance of said improvements. (5) The City of Austin may revoke such permit for good cause after notice to the City National Bank in Austin and hearing thereon, and upon such revocation the owner of such improvements will remove the same and pay all costs and expenses attendant therewith.
