_ CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS 3 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Recessed Meeting of Special Meeting of ✓March 05, 1970 ✓March 5, 1970 8:55 Α.Μ. COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL The meeting was called to order with Mayor LaRue presiding. Roll Call: Present: Absent: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Mayor LaRue None Mayor LaRue announced that this was a continued meeting of the called Special Meeting held on March 4, 1970 and recessed until 8:55 A.M., March 5, 1970. PARKS AND RECREATION FUNDS INCREASE Councilman MacCorkle moved the Council increase Parks and Recreation funds from $750,000 to $1,750,000 in the proposed bond issue. The motion died for lack of a second, SETTING OF ELECTION DATE Councilman Johnson moved the Council set March 28, 1970 as the date for the bond election. The motion, seconded by Councilman Atkison, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Noes: Councilmen Atkison, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Mayor LaRue Councilman Gage ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES ORDINANCE Mayor LaRue introduced the following ordinance; AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE POLLING PLACES FOR THE ELECTION PRECINCTS WITHIN THE INCORPORATED LIMITS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING AND PUBLICATION OF THIS 219 _ CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS March 5, 1970 230 ORDINANCE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Johnson moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance passed to its second reading. The motion, seconded by Councilman Atkison, carried by the following vote: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Ayes: Noes: None Mayor LaRue The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Johnson moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance passed to its third reading. The motion, seconded by Councilman Atkison, carried by the following vote: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Ayes: Noes: None Mayor LaRue The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Johnson moved that the ordinance be finally passed. The motion, seconded by Councilman Atkison, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Mayor LaRue Noes: None The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been finally passed. BOND ELECTION - ORDINANCE Mayor LaRue introduced the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, calling a bond election to be held within said City for the authorization of revenue bonds and general obligation bonds, making provision for the conduct of the election and other provisions incident and related to the purpose of this ordinance; and declaring an emergency. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Johnson moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance passed to its second reading. The motion, seconded by Councilman Atkison, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, MacCorkle, Price, Mayor LaRue Noes: None CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS March 5, 1970 The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Johnson moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance passed to its third reading.
