! CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS: MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Recessed Meeting from Regular Meeting of April 24, 1970 ✓APRIL 24, 1970 2:00 Ρ.Μ. Council Chamber, City Hall C The meeting was called to order with Mayor LaRue presiding. Roll call: Present: Absent: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson, Price, Mayor LaRue Councilman MacCorkle Mayor LaRue announced this was a continuation of the April 23rd, 1970 meeting, and noted Councilman MacCorkle absent. The City Attorney read the Model Cities Resolution citing the City had prepared a Comprehensive City Demonstration Program; the Council finds the program necessary and desirable in order to improve the living conditions of people living in the Model Neighborhood; and authorizes the City Manager to submit to the HUD the Comprehensive City Demonstration Program and such supporting and collateral material as may be necessary. Councilman Gage offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: (RESOLUTION) WHEREAS, the City of Austin has prepared a comprehensive city demonstration program; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the program is necessary and desirable in order to improve the living conditions of people living in the model neighborhood; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the comprehensive city demonstration program be submitted to the Secretary of Housing and Urgan Development (herein called the Secretary) for funding under Title I of the Demonstration Cities and Metropolitan Development Act of 1966; Now, Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: H57 2 1 C C ATTEST: CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS April 24, 1970 That the City Manager, or his successor, be authorized to submit to the Secretary the comprehensive city demonstration program and such supporting and collateral material as shall be necessary. The motion, seconded by Councilman Price, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Janes, Johnson*, Price, Mayor LaRue Noes: None Absent: Councilman MacCorkle *Councilman Johnson in a statement as he voted, said he voted "Aye" with the understanding that each project would be passed upon by a City Council in this City. DR. J. J. SEABROOK commended the City Manager in the dedicated way in which he brought this to a conclusion, and he commended the Council and their endeavors. 458 MINUTES APPROVED Councilman Price moved that the Minutes of the Meetings of March 26, 1970 and March 30, 1970 be approved. The motion, seconded by Councilman Johnson, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Atkison, Gage, Johnson, Price, Mayor LaRue Noes: None Absent: Councilman MacCorkle Present but not voting: Councilman Janes ADJOURNMENT The Council adjourned by unanimous vote.
