APPROVAL OF MINUTES Councilman Johnson moved that the Council approve the minutes of the Regular Meetings of March 19, 1970, April 16, 1970, November 6, 1969, and Special Meeting of May 3, 1971. Councilman Gage introduced his family who were visiting the Council, stating that without their support and help it would have been difficult for him to serve the Austin City Council these past two years. FLUORIDATION Dr. Cliff Price appeared before the Council to discuss the non-binding Referendum on fluoridation. Mrs. Stuart Harris appeared on behalf of the Committee for Safe Drinking Water to present an alternative proposition. David L. Kellogg, Research Scientist, and Executive Director of the Capital Kidney Foundation, spoke 522 May 13, 1971 =CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS in opposition to fluoridation. The Council decided not to take action concerning flouridation, but to leave the matter to the incoming Council. The recommendations included the following: the realignment of several thoroughfares, the relocation of a east-west thoroughfare to north of and adjacent to McKinney Park, rather than through it; the relocation of a north-south thoroughfare to the east of the park rather than through it; the extension and designation of Oltorf Street from Pleasant Valley Road to Montopolis Drive as a new part of the plan; the slight relocation of Lakeshore Drive and Grove Boulevard west of the Montopolis community; and downgrading of Riverside Drive to six lanes divided by a 540 CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS May 13, 1971 median.
