CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS- MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Regular Meeting February 29, 1972 10:00 Α.Μ. Council Chambers, City Hall 203 31 The meeting was called to order with Mayor Butler presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Dryden, Nichols, Mayor Pro Tem Love, Councilmen Friedman, Handcox, Lebermann, Mayor Butler Absent: None The Invocation was delivered by the REVEREND J. CARTER KING, III, Covenant Presbyterian Church. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mayor Pro Tem Love moved the Council approve the minutes of February 17, 1972, as corrected. The motion, seconded by Councilman Nichols, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Dryden, Nichols, Mayor Pro Tem Love, Councilmen Lebermann, Friedman, Handcox, Mayor Butler Noes: None PROCLAMATION Mayor Butler presented a Proclamation to Mrs. Don Smith setting out the week of March 12 - 18 as "Parents Without Partners" week. RESOLUTIONS Mayor Butler read commendations set out in a Resolution signed by all members of the Council, recognizing the retirement of Lt. Rutledge, Joe Frank Frederick, Johnie Lee Hodnett, Sr., and Lt. Mack Israel, from the Fire Department Mayor Butler, on behalf of the Council, read a Resolution signed by all members of the Council commending J. C. Bridges and James P. Spillar and recognizing them for their services as they retire from the Police Department. (Originals of these Resolutions were presented to the Retirees. The City Clerks Office was not furnished with a copy.) CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS February 29, 1972 DESTROYING OF BONDS AND COUPONS 2 204 Mayor Pro Tem Love moved the Council adopt a Resolution authorizing the cremating or otherwise destroying of Bonds and Coupons of the City of Austin properly redeemed and accounted for an audited by the City's Independent Certified Public Accountants. The motion, seconded by Councilman Nichols, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Lebermann, Friedman, Handcox, Mayor Butler, Councilmen Dryden, Nichols, Mayor Pro Tem Love Noes: None BUILDING EXPANSION FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT Councilman Nichols moved the Council adopt a Resolution authorizing the acquisition of certain land for Police Department expansion: 617-621 East 8th Street; 712-718 Sabine Street Ben H.
