\ CITY OF AUSTIN. TEXA1 V MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Special Meeting May 05, 1975 10:00 A. M. Council Chambers 301 West Second Street The meeting was called to order with Mayor Butler presiding. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Binder, Friedman, Snell, Mayor Butler, Mayor Pro Tern Dryden, Councilperson Dr. Linn Absent: Councilman Lebermann CANVASS OF RUN-OFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION The Council had before it the canvassing of the results of the Run-Off Municipal Election held on May 3, 1975. The following precincts were reviewed: Precinct 230 - It was noted that there was a discrepancy of 1 ballot. Precinct 231 - It was noted that there was a discrepancy of 6 ballots. Precinct 233 - Okay. Precinct 235 - It was noted that there was a discrepancy of 2 ballots. Precinct 247 - Okay. Precinct 323 - Okay. In response to questions, City Manager Davidson pointed out that in some cases a voter might vote for both candidates by mistake or might mutilate the ballot; and in those cases, they cannot be counted. =CITY OF AUSTIN. TKXAft Mi*V 5f 1975 Mr. Hugh Standifer, Data Systems Administrator, stated that as far as he was concerned, there were no questions with regard to the discrepancies; and there was no way to resolve them or audit them after a judge had left the balloting place. Mr. Sam Montgomery, Presiding Judge of the Central Counting Station, pointed out that in all 77 boxes, the discrepancies added up to a net total of 35. Mr. Standifer noted that this amount was not sufficient to effect the outcome in that it would require 1,142 votes. Mayor Pro Tern Dryden moved that the Council adopt a resolution verifying the results of the Run-Off Municipal Election held on May 3, 1975, and declaring Margret Hofmann is duly elected and authorized to qualify for the position of Council member for the City of Austin for the position of Place No. 1 for a 2-year term commencing May 15, 1975; and declaring John Trevino, Jr., is duly elected and authorized to qualify for the position of Council member for the City of Austin for the position of Place No. 5 for a 2-year term commencing May 15, 1975. The motion, seconded by Councilman Binder, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Butler, Councilperson Dr. Linn, Councilman Binder, Mayor Pro Tern Dryden, Councilmen Friedman, Snell Noes: None Absent: Councilman Lebermann NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING Mayor Butler took this opportunity to announce that there would be a Special Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 7, 1975, at 8:00 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium for the purpose of receiving results of the Austin Tomorrow Program. NOTICE OF DEDICATION CEREMONIES Mayor Butler noted that the Council would attend a dedication ceremony at Lou Neff Point at the mouth of Barton Creek, on the South bank, in Zilker Park at 10:30 a.m. on May 8, 1975; and would attend a dedication ceremony at the Jamie Odom Pavilion across from Seaholm Power Plant on the North bank of Town Lake at 11:00 a.m. on May 8, 1975.
