Council Chambers 301 West Second Street The meeting was called to order with Mayor Friedman presiding, Roll Call: Present: Mayor Friedman, Mayor Pro Tern Snell, Councilmembers Hlmmelblau, Hofmann, Trevlno Absent: Councilmembers Lebermann, Linn CANVASS OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION The Council had before it the canvassing of the results of the General Municipal Election held April 2, 1977, The following precincts were reviewed: Mayor Friedman Mayor i Pro fern Snell Councilmember Trevino Couaailtnember Himmelblau Councilmember Hofmann Precinct 421 - Okay Precinct 130 - It was noted there was a discrepancy of 8 ballots Precinct 322 - Okay Precinct 125 - Okay Precinct 243 - Okay Mayor Pro Tern Snell moved that the Council adopt a resolution verifying the results of the General Municipal Election held April 2, 1977; :CITY OP AUSTIN. ORDINANCE CALLING A RUN-OFF ELECTION Mayor Friedman introduced the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A RUNOFF ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN ON APRIL 30, 1977 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND THREE COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN FOR PLACES 1, 3 AND 4, RESPECTIVELY, FOR A TWO YEAR TERM COMMENCING MAY 15, 1977; PROVIDING FOR POLLING PLACES; PROVIDING FOR THE FORM OF THE BALLOT; PROVIDING FOR HOURS OF ABSENTEE VOTING; PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL CANVASSING BOARD; PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF AN ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE AND SUCH OTHER ASPECTS AS ARE INCIDENT AND RELATED TO THE PURPOSE OF THIS ORDINANCE; SUSPENDING THE RULE REQUIRING THE READING OF AN ORDINANCE ON THREE SEPARATE DAYS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Councilmember Trevino moved that the Council waive the requirement for three readings, declare an emergency and finally pass the ordinance. The motion, seconded by Councilmember Himmelblau, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Fro Tern Snell, Councilmembers Himmelblau, Hofmann, Trevino, Mayor Friedman Noes; None Absent: Councilmembers Lebermann, Linn The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been finally passed. =CITY or AUSTIN.
