sCITY OF AUSTIN. TEXAS; MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS Special Called Meeting December 19, 1977 9:30 A.M. Mayor's Office - Municipal Building 124 West 8th The meeting was called to order with Mayor McClellan presiding. Roll Call: Present: Mayor McClellan, Councilmembers Cooke, Goodman, Mayor Pro Tern Himmelblau, Councilmembers Mullen, Snell Absent; Councilmember Trevino Mayor McClellan opened the meeting scheduled for 9:30 a.m., stating that this was a Special Called Meeting of the City Council for the purpose of publicly announcing that it will convene in a closed or executive session authorized by Section 2, Paragraphs (e), (f) and (g) of Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and after such closed or executive session any final action, decision or vote with regard to any matter considered in the closed or executive session would be made in open session, should such action, decision or vote be necessary. The Mayor announced that the Council would go Into executive session. At 5:30 the Mayor reconvened the Council meeting in open session. Councilmember Cooke moved that the Council keep the names of those persons applying for Judges of Municipal Court confidential; that the applicants be reveiwed by a seven member Bar Association screening committee to be appointed by the Council. The motion, seconded by Councilmember Snell, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Mayor Pro Tern Himmelblau, Councilmembers Mullen, Snell, Mayor McClellan, Councilmembers Cooke, Goodman Noes: Home Absent: Councilmember Trevino =CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, December 19, 1977 The Council felt most of the applicants were currently employed and the names should not be made public to protect their Jobs.
