=C1TY OF AUSTIN. MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS December 15, 1978 2:00 P.M. Conference Room 124 West Eighth Street The meeting was called to order with Mayor McClellan presiding. Roll Call: Present: Mayor MeCTellan, Mayor Pro Tern Cooke, Councilmembers Goodman, Himmelblau, Mullen, Snell, Trevino Absent: None Mayor McClellan opened the Special Called Meeting of the Council, scheduled for 2:00 P.M. for the purpose of Second and Third readings of Ordinance calling an Election for Saturday, January 20, 1979, authorizing the City Council to sell a portion of South Texas Nuclear Project and authorizing the City Manager to seek proposals for the purchase of a portion of Austin's share of the South Texas Nuclear Project. Mayor McClellan brought up the following ordinance for its second reading: AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN ON JANUARY 20, 1979, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS, FOR ADOPTION OR REJECTION, A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF AS MUCH OF AUSTIN'S SIXTEEN PERCENT INTEREST IN THE SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT (NUCLEAR) AS CANNOT BE FINANCED WITH THE $161,000,000 IN BONDS PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED FOR SAID PROJECT. MAKING PROVISION FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION AND OTHER PROVISIONS INCIDENT AND RELATED TO THE PURPOSE OF THIS ORDINANCE; SUSPENDING THE RULE REQUIRING THAT ORDINANCES BE READ ON THREE SEPARATE DAYS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. .CITY OF AUSTIN. Trvm Dprpmhpr 15, 1Q7fi The ordinance was read the second time and Mayor Pro Tern Cooke moved the Council waive the requirement for the third reading, declare an emergency and finally pass the ordinance. The motion, seconded by Councilmember Himmelblau, carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Himmelblau, Mullen, Snell, Trevino, Mayor McClellan, Mayor Pro Tern Cooke Noes: Councilmember Goodman The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been finally passed. Motion Councilmember Mullen moved that the Council adopt a resolution to authorize the City Manager or his designate to seek proposals for the purchase of so much of Austin's sixteen per cent (16%) interest in the South Texas Nuclear Project as cannot be financed with the $161,000,000 in bonds previously authorized for such project.
