Austin Approves Major Mo-Pac Road Expansion

April 05, 1982 CANVASSING OF VOTES OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION Council Chambers, 301 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: City Council Carole Keeton McClellan Mayor John Treviño, Jr. Mayor Pro Tem Council Members Larry Deuser Roger Duncan, Richard Goodman Ron Mullen Charles E. Urdy : Nicholas M. Meiszer City Manager Grace Monroe City Clerk The 3:30 p.m. Special Council Meeting was called to order by Mayor McClellan at 3:38 p.m. Councilmember Deuser wanted it noted that he was present at 3:35 p.m. Mayor McClellan announced the purpose of the Special Called Meeting is for canvassing the returns and adoption of the Resolution declaring the results of the April 3, 1982 Special Municipal Election relating to the extension of Mo-Pac Boulevard. After determining there were no irregularities in the election procedures, Council proceeded to canvass the returns and reported as follows: Councilmember Deuser Precinct 136 Okay Mayor McClellan Precinct 145 Okay Councilmember Duncan Precinct 143 Okay Councilmember Urdy Precinct 245 Okay Mayor McClellan Precinct 150 Didn't have total votes returned in envelope. Judge Barho said it had been run twice and it is Okay. Councilmember Mullen. Council Memo CANVASSING 2 - (Continued) Councilmember Deuser April 5, 1982 Precinct 133 Okay Precinct 134 Okay Precinct 135 Okay Councilmember Urdy Motion Precinct 247 Okay The Council, on Councilmember Mullen's motion, Mayor Pro Tem Trevino's second, adopted a resolution canvassing returns and declaring the result of a Special Municipal Election relating to the extension of Mo-Pac Boulevard held in Austin, Texas on the 3rd day of April, 1982, with the following votes cast: (6-0 Vote, Councilmember Goodman absent) PROPOSITION NO. 1: Should Mo-Pac Boulevard (Loop 1) be extended from Highway 183 north to Farm to Market Road 1325? For Extending Against Extending 39,990 votes 19,300 votes Total votes cast 59,290 votes PROPOSITION NO. 2: Should Mo-Pac Boulevard (Loop 1) be extended from Loop 360 south to Highway 290 west? For Extending Against Extending 35,830 votes 23,000 votes Total votes cast 58,830 votes Mayor McClellan thanked all City employees who helped with a successful election and gave special note to the City Clerk's office.
