Austin City Council MINUTES For December 5, 1983 - Special Called Meeting 3rd Floor Conference Room Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: - Municipal Building Mayor Mullen called to order the Special Called Meeting of the Council scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and noted the presence of all Councilmembers. He announced Council will convene in a closed or executive session authorized by Section 2, Paragraph g of Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes annotated, Personnel Matters; and after such closed or executive session, any final action, decision or vote with regard to any matter considered in the closed or executive session will be made in open session, should such action, decision or vote be necessary. RECESS Council recessed for executive session at 4:40 p.m. and resumed its recessed meeting at 5:45 p.m. NEW CITY CLERK NAMED Motion The Council, on Councilmember Duncan's motion, Councilmember Spaeth's second, approved the appointment of James E. Aldridge as City Clerk of Austin, Texas. (7-0 Vote) Motion The Council, on Councilmember Duncan's motion, Councilmember Rose's second, approved a salary of $34,000 annually for City Clerk Aldridge. (7-0 Vote) EXECUTIVE SESSION & RECESS Council recessed its meeting at 5:50 p.m. to return to executive session to discuss pending litigation: a. City of Austin v. HL&P et al; City of Austin et al v Brown and Root et al, Section 2, Paragraph e; and b. Sale or lease of real property, Section 2, Paragraph f. After such closed or executive session, any action or vote necessary will be made in open session. Council adjourned its meeting at 8:00 p.m.
