EMERGENCY SPECIAL CALLED MEETING Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: Mayor Mullen called the Emergency Special Called Meeting of the Council scheduled for 7:00P.M. to order at 10:50 Ρ.Μ., hoting the absence of Councilmember Spaeth and Councilmember Rose. Mayor Mullen announced the purpose of the meeting was to consider a resolution stating a policy supporting expansion of State sales tax base. Councilmember Shipman said that she didn't think that food stuffs like ice cream should not be taxed. Councilmember Duncan recommended that the Council support the resolution except for no tax on Blue Bell Ice Cream. Pieter Sybesma, Intergovernmental Relations Officer, stated that the exemption would be for ice cream, and other frozen deserts, donuts, cakes, and pastries. Motion The Council, on Mayor Pro Tem Trevino's motion and Councilmember Urdy's second, approved the resolution, (5-0 vote, Council- members Rose and Spaeth absent). ADJOURNMENT The Council adjourned its Emergency Special Called Meeting at 11:00 Ρ.Μ.
