CANVASSING RETURNS OF FEBRUARY 7, 1987, SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: Mayor Cooksey called to order the meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Councilmembers Humphrey, Rose and Urdy. Mayor Cooksey announced the purpose of the meeting was to consider resolutions concerning the canvassing of the returns and declaring the results of the February 7, 1987 Special Municipal Election. Mayor Cooksey then read the resolution and the following motion was made: Motion The Council, on Councilmember Carl-Mitchell's motion, Councilmember Shipman's second, adopted the following resolution: (4-0 Vote, Councilmembers Urdy, Rose and Humphrey absent) A resolution canvassing returns and declaring the result of a bond election held in Austin, Texas on the 7th day of February 1987 shows the following votes cast on the propositions submitted at said election, to-wit: PROPOSITION NUMBER 1 "The issuance of $7,500,000 tax supported General Obligation Bonds for the acquisition of real property and the installation of streets, utilities and other infrastructure improvements and facilities adjacent to and/or in connection with dwelling accommodations for low income persons" FOR AGAINST TOTAL VOTES CAST 11,075 votes 14,075 votes 25,150 votes Council Memo 2 2/9/87 PROPOSITION NUMBER 2 "The issuance of $15,000,000 tax supported General Obligation Bonds for the demolishing of existing structures and the constructing, reconstructing, altering, and repairing of dwelling accommodations for low income persons and publicly owned and controlled dwelling accommodations for low income persons" FOR AGAINST TOTAL VOTES CAST 11,028 votes 13,920 votes 24,948 votes ADJOURNMENT Council adjourned its meeting at 1:45 p.m.
