AUSTU FOUNDIN 1020 Austin City Council MINUTES For August 06, 1987 - SPECIAL CALLED MEETING 9:00 Α.Μ. Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: Mayor Cooksey called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the presence of all Councilmembers. The Mayor announced Council would hold a worksession on Operating and Capital Budget. Mayor Cooksey asked Council to come up with further reductions in the next two weeks. He said the union, City employees and other groups should submit their suggestions for additional cuts in the budget. He said a list will be compiled and Councilmembers should give their views in an organized way. The Mayor said, "We then will have any additonal suggestions for cuts. He also wanted to know if there can be cuts elsewhere so that community education support does not have to be cut from the budget. Mayor Cooksey then asked for departmental budget reports for Econonmic Development and International Trade, EMS, Financial Services and the Fire Department. When these were finished the Mayor announced further departments will give their reports at the next worksession on Operating and Capital Budget. Council adjourned its meeting at 11:55 a.m.
