AUSTI N - 9:00 Α.Μ. - SPECIAL CALLED MEETING Austin City Council MINUTES For August 31, 1987 Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: Mayor Cooksey called to order the special called meeting, set for 9:00 a.m. at 2:10 p.m. The Mayor noted the presence of all Councilmembers except Councilmember Urdy, who arrived at 3:40 p.m. COMMUNITY ADVOCATE FOR TEENS AND PARENTS Mayor Cooksey called on Laverne Redwine to present information concerning funding requests for Community Advocate for Teens and Parents. ELECTRIC UTILITY COMMISSION Albert Fairweather, Chairman, Electric Utility Commission, reported to Council concerning their recent meeting and budget recommendations. BUDGET WORKSESSION Mayor Cooksey announced the Council would hold a budget worksession. He asked Jim Thompson, Director of Water and Wastewater to present his department's report. After the report, Mayor Cooksey asked the department heads present to go over the list of suggested personnel deletions and justify any which they thought were unjustified. Resource Management, Office of Land Development Service, and Transportation and Public Service all discussed job deletions which they did not think were feasible. RECESS !! Council recessed their meeting at 3:45 in order to hold an emergency special called meeting. Council resumed its recessed-meeting at 4:15 p.m. 1
