FOUNDI Austin City Council MINUTES For SPECIAL CALLED MEETING FOURTH FLOOR AUDITORIUM Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: - - 3:00 Ρ.Μ. MAY 24, 1988 CENTRAL LIBRARY Mayor Cooksey called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Mayor Pro Tem Trevino and Councilmember Urdy. WORKSESSION Council held a worksession on Gilbane Update of the Civic Center Project and listened to the report by Walt Marquardt, representing Gilbane. OPERATING BUDGET AND C.I.P. BUDGET AMENDMENT The Council, on Councilmember Shipman's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's second, waived the requirement for three readings and finally passed an ordinance amending the 1987-88 Annual Operating budget and the 1987-88 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Budget by transferring funds in the amount of $21,285 from the Civic Center Reserve Fund and appropriating it to the CIP Civic Center Project in order to provide funds for the administration of the grant to be received from the National Endowment for the Arts for the Austin Public Place Program (5-0 Vote, Mayor Pro Tem Trevino, Councilmember Urdy absent.) IMPROVEMENTS TO RIDDLE ROAD/SLAUGHTER LANE The Council, on Councilmember Carl-Mitchell's motion, Councilmember Shipman's second, waived the requirement for three readings and finally passed an ordinance declaring the necessity for ordering improvements to Riddle Road/Slaughter Lane, consisting of 2 units covering approximately 4,150 feet. (5-0 Vote, Mayor Pro Tem Trevino and Councilmember Urdy absent) CITY MANAGER REPORT Chief of Police Jim Everett, Chief Ray Sanders and Chief George Phifer, presented the City Manager report on Austin Police Department Business Plan. Council Memo 2 CITIZENS WASTE TO ENERGY TASK FORCE 5/24/88 The Council, on Councilmember Carl-Mitchell's motion, Councilmember Shipman's second, adopted a resolution amending the resolution creating the Citizens Waste-to-Energy Task Force to allow five representatives from the community-at-large. (4-0 Vote, Mayor Cooksey out of the room, Mayor Pro Tem Trevino and Councilmember Urdy absent) ADJOURNMENT Council did not hold an executive session, nor did they make any board and commission appointments. They adjourned their meeting at 5:10 p.m. )
