1 OFFAUST FOUNDID 1839 Austin City Council MINUTES For SPECIAL CALLED MEETING FOURTH FLOOR AUDITORIUM July 12, 1988 - 4:30 Ρ.Μ. CENTRAL LIBRARY Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Mayor Cooke called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the presence of all Councilmembers. ITEM POSTPONED Postponed until July 14, 1988 is a worksession on City debt and related issues. WORKSESSION - GILBANE UPDATE A worksession was held on the Gilbane Update. BRUSHY CREEK WORKSESSION During the worksession on Brushy Creek, the following motion was made: ! Motion - FAILED Councilmember Carl-Mitchell made a motion, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Shipman to stay with the Brushy Creek Project. Motion FAILED by a vote of 3-4, Mayor Cooke, Councilmembers Humphrey and Nofziger voted No. COUNCIL MEETINGS Barustone Mayor Cooke introduced an item to Council to discuss procedures and policies and other related issues relating to how City Council meetings are conducted. Mayor Cooke said the Tuesday meetings will begin at 3:00P.M. and last no later than 7:00P.M. He said the first Tuesday of each month should be set for board and commission appointments. Mayor Pro Tem Shipman said Council should be notified when dignitaries are going to be present in the Council Chamber to receive proclamations. There was also discussion concerning the setting of zoning hearings at 5:00 P.M. and Mayor Pro Tem Shipman also questioned the necessity of sign-in cards for speakers at the meetings. She thought that took up too much time. ADJOURNMENT - Council adjourned its meeting at 6:15 P.M.
