Austin City Council MINUTES For August 16, 1988 - 1:00 P.M. - SPECIAL CALLED MEETING CULTURAL ARTS - FISCAL YEAR 1988-89 Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Mayor Cooke called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Councllmember Barnstone and Councilmember Urdy. The Mayor announced the purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing on cultural arts for FY 1988-89. Cynthia Alexander, chairman, Arts Commission, gave a report and comments were made by other members of the Commission. Council heard requests from Ballet East Austin, MexicArte, Ballet Academia Tejas, Zachary Scott Theater, Austin Federation of Musicians, Austin Children's Museum, Theater Peer Panel, Texas Youth Ballet, Austin Contemporary Dance Company, Laguna Gloria, Ballet Austin, LUCHA, Project Inter-Act. Cards for speakers are on file in the City Clerk's office. Motion The Council, on Mayor Pro Tern Shipman's motion, Councllmember Carl-Mitchell's second, closed the public hearing and adjourned the meeting. (5-0 Vote, Councilmembers Urdy and Barnstone absent.)
