E Austin City Council MINUTES For SPECIAL CALLED MEETING FOURTH FLOOR AUDITORIUM Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Memorandum To: - - JANUARY 24,-1989 CENTRAL LIBRARY - 3:00 P.Μ. Mayor Cooke called to order the meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Councilmembers Carl-Mitchell and Urdy. AUSTIN AIRPORT .. The Council, on Mayor Pro Tem Shipman's motion, Councilmember Humphrey's second, adopted a resolution authorizing a supplemental amendment to the Professional Service Agreement between the City of Austin and Sverdrup Corporation for the Program Management Services for the new City of Austin Airport to incorporate the proposed Phase I Period of Service Timeline. (4-0 Vote, Councilmembers Barnstone, Carl-Mitchell and Urdy absent) STP SETTLEMENT The Council, on Mayor Pro Tem Shipman's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's second, adopted a resolution approving an agreement with Houston Lighting and Power for the repayment of energy pursuant to the terminated STP Settlement Agreement to be paid by HL&P in cash rather than through in-kind energy exchange. (4-0 Vote, Councilmembers Barnsstone, Carl-Mitchell and Urdy absent) ITEM POSTPONED Postponed to January 26, 1989 is consideration of approving assumptions for use in preparing the Five Year Financial Forecast. CITY MANAGER REPORT Mike Abkowitz presented the City Manager Report, Economists' Roundtable. Dr. Jeff Andron also discussed the economy of Austin. WORKSESSION ITEMS Council held a worksession on Convention Center and timeline with comments by Dick Gilbane. The new City of Austin Municipal Airport Update discussion was introduced by airport director Tim Ward and discussed by Council. Gwen Webb presented a Legislative Update. Mayor Pro Tem Shipman asked that lobbyists meet regularly with Council. ? 3 Council Memo EXECUTIVE SESSION 2 1/24/89 Mayor Cooke announced the City Council would go into Executive Session, pursuant to Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated, to discuss matters of land acquisition, litigation and for personnel matters.
