AUSTION FOUNDE 1839 Austin City Council MINUTES For - 10:00 Α.Μ. SPECIAL CALLED MEETING June 08, 1989 FIRST FLOOR ASSEMBLY ROOM - TOWN LAKE CENTER Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Mayor Cooke opened the Special Called Meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Councilmember Urdy, who later arrived at 11:21 Α.Μ., and Councilmember Barnstone, who arrived at 11:45 A.Μ. Mayor Cooke announced the worksession items and discussion began. WATER QUALITY ISSUES AFFECTING THE WATER AND WASTEWATER UTILITY Water and Wastewater Director Ron Bond, introduced the issues. A. Covar, Water and Wastewater Department, introduced the speakers and their presentation. Dr. C. Bohmfalk, Texas Water Commission, discussed the Texas Water Commission and Related Issues. Alan Plummer of Alan Plummer and Associates discussed BOD/DO Permits. Dr. P. Glass, Alan Plummer and Associates, reviewed stream standards and LCRA WQI. Dr. N. Armstrong, University of Texas at Austin, told Council about nutrients and LCRA Operations effects. Mayor Cooke requested that the same presentation be given to the LCRA Board. CONVENTION CENTER A financial feasibility update concerning the convention center was presented to the Council. The estimated size of an east side exhibition space is 100,000 to 150,000 square feet, at a cost of $69.4 million. AUSTIN PLAN After a brief discussion of the Austin Plan, the following motion was made: Motion The Council, on Councilmember Carl-Mitchell's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's second, approved Plan C, 90 day extension. (7-0 Vote) ADJOURNMENT Council adjourned its meeting at 12:45 P.Μ.
