B AUSTIN FOUNDID 1039 Austin City Council MINUTES For - August 09, 1989 SPECIAL CALLED COUNCIL MEETING FIRST FLOOR ASSEMBLY ROOM OF TOWN LAKE CENTER 721 BARTON SPRINGS ROAD Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Mayor Cooke called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Councilmembers Carl-Mitchell and Humphrey. The Mayor said the purpose of the meeting was to hold a work session on the proposed 1989-90 budget. City Manager Barnett discussed the general fund revenue projections for property tax, sales tax, transfers, fees and charges. Elaine Hart, Director of Finance, illustrated by use of charts many of the projections. A copy of the charts are on file in the City Clerk's office. Council recessed its meeting from 11:50 to 1:50 Ρ.Μ. When the meeting resumed a presentation and discussion of wage and benefit recommendations for fiscal year 1989-90 was held. The information referred to by the speakers is on file in the City Clerk's office. City Manager Barnett introduced a discussion of a Cost Savings Incentive Program for City departments. The explanation sheet is on file in the City Clerk's office. Presentations of specific departments then began with Libby Watson, Assistant City Manager and Chief of Police Jim Everett explaining the budget for the Police Department. Fire Chief Roberts was next, with discussion concerning the budget for the Fire Department. The Council adjourned its meeting at 4:50 Ρ.Μ.
