ST FOUNDED 1839 Austin City Council MINUTES For SPECIAL CALLED MEETING - August 21, 1989 – 10:30 Α.Μ. FIRST FLOOR ASSEMBLY ROOM - Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas TOWN LAKE CENTER 721 BARTON SPRINGS ROAD Mayor Pro Tem Shipman called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Mayor Cooke and Councilmember Humphrey. Both members of the Council arrived at 1:30 P.M. after the meeting reconvened. Mayor Pro Tem Shipman announced the purpose of the meeting was to have a worksession on the budget. Libby Watson, Assistant City Manager, introduced discussion on Health and Human Services, EMS and Brackenridge Hospital. Dr. Solbritt Murphy, Director, Health and Human Services and members of her staff outlined recent changes in the department and the various aspects of the department study and concern. David Wurtz, Director of Emergency Medical Services, went over .:. the figures of the budget for his department. RECESS Council recessed from 12:00 Noon to 1:33 P.m. The discussion of EMS continued. City Manager Barnett said there have been discussions concerning the combining of the City services with the County under the AMEGO program. Libby Watson presented an overview of the budget for Brackenridge Hospital. Tom Young, Director, Brackenridge Hospital, explained the budget by use of charts. ADJOURNMENT.
